Roman Situla | Flat bottom brass bucket | Reenactment

$130.00

The Roman Situla, also known as a boiling bucket; was primarily used for several cooking purposes. It was a cooking container in the shape of a bucket which was used by the citizens of Rome as well as members of the Roman army. Such utensils were used by the officers and legionaries during camping expeditions. The use of such a utensil dates back to the Greek era where there are Etruscan findings of such vases. They were decorated pieces using relief figures, engraving as well as hand paintings.
