This is a replica of the Nydam Roman Sword, which is made of hardened steel. The handle, cross guard, and pommel are made of teakwood. They are coated with linseed oil for weather protection. The guard and the pommel have brass plates on either side for reinforcement. The tang is hammered into the pommel to secure the hilt. This sword is an excellent reproduction suited for primarily 4th century AD. However similar styles are seen in the 3rd, 5th and 6th centuries. The weight, balance, and grip are all far superior to the Deepeka model.
